Ask virtually any working
person what their top 2 stressors are, and “work” is
bound to be one of them. Miscommunication, conflict,
poor management and incoherent structures all conspire
to make people sick of their jobs. Since we spend
so much time at work, it seemed to me that a major
contribution I could make to public health would
be helping organizations to create effective, productive
and (maybe even fun) work environments.
I have a license to practice medicine
as a Physician Assistant, and I hold a Masters in
Public Health as well. In the late ‘90s, after
nearly 20 years in medicine and health education,
a new passion began to emerge: “organizational
health”.
To that end, I have engineered a career
switch from individual and public health to organizational
health. I have studied and been certified in conflict
mediation, executive coaching, and team building
strategies by institutes in California, Scotland,
England, Australia and Greece. Although much of my
professional experience is in healthcare settings,
I have branched out to provide services in both corporate
and nonprofit settings too. My ultimate goal is to
help organizations and individuals maximize not only
their productivity, but also their efficacy, fulfillment
and satisfaction in working groups.
